Patricia “Pat” A. Whitenburg, 82, of Samaria, MI, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, in Ebeid Hospice Residence. Born March 8, 1936, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Oscar and Patricia (O’Shea) Venia. A 1954 graduate of Central Catholic High School, she married Eugene Whitenburg on January 22, 1955. Pat was employed as a dietician at the former Villa North Nursing Home in Toledo for 26 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church where she active in the Ladies Guild. Pat enjoyed crocheting, woodworking, having family time at their cottage at Sand Lake and spending time at her grandchildren’s sporting events.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Eugene; children, Denise Goerlich, Diane (Dave) Scott, Kevin (Dawn) Whitenburg and Kristine (Alan) Ortman; brother, Robert (Connie) Venia;sister, Marlene (Richard) Patterson; grandchildren, Eric Bair, Bridget Dombrowski, Jena Donnelly, Nathaniel, Nicholas and Macy Whitenburg, Alex, Adam, Kurtis Ortman, Liesa Goerlich, Lora Copeland, Christopher Goerlich,14 great grandchildren and canine friend, Buddy. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Bair, Son-in-law, Rolf Goerlich and brother, William Venia.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Avenue, Temperance, MI, where she will lie in state after 10:00 am. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
